(4) the Red Squirrel relocation project.
Forestry Restoration
A collaborative project between Estates, Proprietor Groups and the Forestry Commission. The Kyle of Sutherland River’s Trust is implementing a riparian forestry restoration program that will see many 100,000’s of native trees planted along the headwaters of five rivers systems within Sutherland. The goal is to create new mixed species woodlands to improve spawning, feeding and juvenile habitat for salmon and sea trout.
Education Programme
The Challenger Trust “outward-bound” style experiences for young teenagers living in Sutherland & Ross-shire who will stay on the Reserve for five nights and participate in many character-building activities and science-based tasks. The programmes are designed to fit within the curriculum or address specific school aims such as induction, transition, Prefect training, awareness of others, raising self-esteem and attendance.
