All levels of fitness are catered for when guests participate in guided walls on the Reserve. Please bring good walking shoes or boots.
Our Head Ranger, Innes MacNeill has worked at Alladale for 15 years and has an excellent knowledge of the Reserve and environs. David Clark is the Deputy Ranger and he is head of our re-introduction programme for Red Squirrel and Capercaillie. Ronnie Macleod and Ben Horne are our Assistant Rangers and will be happy to explore the wildlife treasures that await you at Alladale.
observe Red Deer moving gracefully amongst our treasured Caledonian pines and the mighty "Sus Scrofa" (Wild Boar) going about their favourite business of "rooting" amongst the dense heather and bracken, this process providing valuable assistance with woodland regeneration. The ‘Boar’ will be joined in our trial 800 acre re-wilding enclosure in early 2007 by the European Elk ("Moose") from Scandinavia and Roe Deer. During your stay you will meet our resident ecologist, Chris Sandom. Chris will play a lead role in working alongside Oxford University’s "WildCRU" research unit as part of a 3-year scientific programme.
