Alladale named in 101 of world's best hotels by Tatler Alladale Fitness Retreat - now booking for 2nd to 7th May 2010 Glen Alladale's Special Area of Conservation - forestry project
All of us here at Alladale are very proud to have made an appearance in the 2010 Tatler Travel Guide as one of the 101 best destinations in the world. Some of Alladale's highlights, according to Tatler, are Eagle's Crag and Ghillie's Rest: "The interiors are as smart as soldier's boots: sandstone floors, wood-burning stoves and antler chandeliers ... this is a Highland fling with privacy and flair." Why not have a fling of your own and take advantage of our Valentine's offer - three nights for the price of two until the end of March? Call Georgia on +44 (0)1863 755 338 or visit the website, www.alladale.com, for more details.

Up to 10 participants will have exclusive use of the entire Reserve for the duration of the five-night full board retreat, which is running from 2nd to 7th May 2010. At the far end of Glen Alladale's Special Area of Conservation, work has begun on planting 250,000 native trees over the next two years. The beautiful Caledonian pine wood that exists at present is one of the most northern remnants remaining in Britain. However, these old trees have low reproductive potential and therefore a more fertile local seed source will be used to enlarge the important ancient woods, thus helping to restore the area to its former natural glory. For further information on our reforestation and restoration programme, please email Hugh Fullerton-Smith.

Photo Of The Month from Alladale's Reserve Manager, Innes MacNeill

Innes takes his camera with him wherever he goes and has produced some stunning images. This picture was taken just last week during an especially wintry spell, and shows a peaceful and pristine snow-covered Glen Mhor at sunset.
Don't Take Our Word For It...

"A fantastic experience; David [Alladale's Head Ranger] was brilliant and his knowledge enhanced the overall stay. The reserve is beautiful, food delicious and the staff brilliant - a massive thankyou!" Jess and Mark Anscombe
Emergency In Haiti

At Alladale we're usually concerned with the conservation and restoration of the natural world, but a human disaster such as the recent earthquake in Haiti demands urgent attention from us all. We would like to encourage our readers to donate whatever they can to our friends at Project Medishare for Haiti, a long-established charity that's on the ground in Port-au-Prince now providing medical relief. It is not currently possible to donate directly through Project Medishare's website, but you can donate to the Global Institue, the area from which Project Medishare's relief is co-ordinated, by clicking the following link. All monies will go directly to Haiti's relief.
