Fantastic news: Our two new stone dressed cottages, located in the stunning Glen Alladale, will be operational from Saturday 13th June!

This now gives us a total capacity of 22 guests on the Reserve.
Built high on sustainable principles, we have used in their construction local materials, from reclaimed timber & sheep’s wool insulation to Caithness slate floors.

Both Eagles Crag and Ghillies rest are powered by our hydro-electric turbine and have the added benefit of under floor heating. We have also taken great care to sensitively furnish the interiors to give a unique feeling of ‘place’.

WALK COAST TO COAST (in support of the Wilderness Foundation)

Your final day of trekking will take you to Loch Broom, a sea loch where the small town of Ullapool lies on the eastern shore.

This is an image of the original oil on canvas "Monarch of Glen Alladale" (56" x 39") by the highly acclaimed Wildlife and Nature artist BAS.

The original will hang in the dining room at Alladale Lodge.

We are delighted that BAS has agreed to use the giclee/litho fine art print process to produce limited edition prints faithfully reproduced from the original painting that we will sell at £490 plus postage and packing.

Habitat Restoration Programmes Pick up the Pace

Over the past ten years we have progressively reduced Alladale’s red deer population by 50% in order to help regenerate native flora and create a more balanced ecosystem.

Visitors who visit the Reserve with our Rangers can see clear signs of this regeneration. In parallel with this successful management policy, we are forging ahead with an aggressive tree planting scheme.

From July we will begin planting over 200,000 broadleaf trees within the riparian areas of the reserve.

Wild boar are an essential restoration tool at Alladale
The use of our wild boar will go a long way in helping prepare the ground in advance of the planting process. Oxford University’s “WildCRU’ three year scientific program has identified the correct wild boar numbers needed to ensure effective “rooting up” of the dense heather and bracken to allow easy “screefing” and planting.

Plans are now afoot for the planting of nearly a quarter million Caledonian Pines in 2010 & 2011 over an extensive area to the north-west of Alladale Lodge that will link up with other forestry schemes which began ten years ago.
Thank you for your continued support, I look forward to being in touch with you again very soon.

Kind Regards,
Hugh Fullerton-Smith
