A True Highland Winter

At last, a proper winter has arrived at the end of January. A white landscape has many advantages for us at Alladale.

skiach_wood_glen_alladale.jpgIt enables us to make a more accurate count of our deer herd; whilst also allowing considerable photographic opportunities (see our Head Ranger Innes MacNeill’s picture of the ancient Skiach Woods adjacent); the snow, ice and hard frosts also play their part in keeping tick and insect populations under control!!.

A recent Kew Garden report suggests a very early spring is in store in England, but we know our Highland winter will remain with us for some time yet!
